As part of our wellness initiative, we offer urinalysis screening as one of our primary preventive health services. A simple urine test can provide valuable insight into overall health by identifying early changes that may indicate dehydration, kidney function concerns, urinary tract infections, elevated glucose levels, liver conditions, and other metabolic abnormalities. While a urinalysis is not intended to diagnose disease, it serves as an important screening tool that can encourage individuals to seek timely medical evaluation when abnormal results are identified.

In addition to wellness screenings, Appleton Avenue Labs provides health education focused on preventive care, healthy lifestyle choices, nutrition, hydration, chronic disease awareness, and understanding personal health indicators. The Black Lyte’N Initiative-The Black Lyte’N Initiative, founded in honor of the late Mr. Anderson, is the emotional wellness and mental health arm of Appleton Avenue Labs. This initiative focuses on healing, resilience, and mental health education in Black and Brown communities. It offers healing circles, peer support sessions, caregiver mental health workshops, and suicide prevention education. By addressing the stigma surrounding mental health, the initiative helps individuals build coping skills, strengthen emotional awareness, and find supportive connections within their community. It serves as both a tribute and a transformative movement for hope and healing.

Research & Public Awareness-Appleton Avenue Labs engages in community research and public awareness initiatives to better understand and address barriers to healthcare access. We conduct and publish local studies, host public forums, and collaborate with universities, healthcare providers, and advocacy organizations to improve community outcomes. By developing culturally competent educational materials and health campaigns, we equip individuals with the knowledge to make informed decisions and influence policy changes that promote health equity. These initiatives turn data into action, driving education and advocacy that directly benefit the communities we serve.

Community Support & Advocacy-Our organization also provides vital community support services and advocacy programs. Through our resource referral network, we connect individuals to mental health care, housing, food, counseling, and social services. We train community ambassadors and volunteers to serve as wellness advocates, ensuring sustainability and outreach beyond our immediate programs.
